DS-7070
Commentary

Audio level indicator of Laboratory 7070 series using plasma display device.

A plasma display device has two glass electrodes facing each other, and a gas is sealed between the electrodes. When a pulse voltage is applied to both electrodes at the same time, the gas in the electrodes causes a discharge phenomenon, generating a large number of ion-electron pairs (plasma), which emit light when they collide.
In addition to features such as high-speed response of 0.02 msec or less and no indication inertia such as tracking delay and overshoot, this system has advantages such as easy multi-point display, free shape of the light emitting part and memory, high brightness and high construction, no parallax from an oblique direction because the light emitting part and scale can be placed on the same plane, low power consumption, and super life.

The DS 7070 plasma display device covers a wide range of 43 points, from + 10 dB to -50dB, with 1 dB steps from + 10 dB to -20dB, and 2.5 dB steps from -20dB to -50dB.
The sensitivity can also be increased by 20 dB by switching the front panel switch.

There are four display functions. VU meets BTS (JIS) standard of 0.3 ± 0.03 se rise time, and DIN and NBA standard of 10 msec peak time. Both tone burst response accurately meet the standard.
In addition, the DIN standard specifies that the peak fall time is 1.5 sec. In the DS 7070, this is followed by the Peak Slow position and the Peak Fast position of 0.3 sec. so that the valley of continuous pulses can be monitored.
In addition, a 4 Ω, 8 Ω and 16 Ω impedance selection switch is mounted in order to correspond to the power level which changes according to the speaker impedance in average power and peak power display.
The 0 dB scale is 100W, and the total indication range is 1 kW to 1 mW.

To facilitate reading of fluctuating tip level, it is equipped with an instantaneous lock function. It is also equipped with a memory function that keeps showing maximum level while displaying real-time fluctuation level.
The memory is retained until the power is turned off, but it can be erased by turning off the memory switch.

There was a rack handle sold separately.
