Commentary
This speaker system is the top-of-the-line model of the linear phase series.
The SB-9500 was designed based on the linear phase theory, and a new method for unit, network, and unit placement was adopted to flatten not only sound pressure (amplitude) frequency characteristics but also phase frequency characteristics.
Each unit has a wide bandwidth and uses only parts with good characteristics to achieve high sound quality.
Equipped with 2 35 cm cone type woofers for ultra low band and 2 35 cm cone type woofers for low band.
The cone paper of these units uses lightweight aramid fiber with high Young's modulus. By expanding the piston motion band, distortion in the high frequency range is reduced and the high frequency limit of 5 kHz is realized.
A copper cap is attached to the center pole of the magnetic circuit to reduce harmonic distortion at middle and high frequencies.
Each of the mid-range, high-range and ultra-high-range has a horn type unit.
A large-diameter voice coil and diaphragm of 100 mm for mid-range, 60 mm for tweeter and 35 mm for super tweeter are adopted to improve the linearity of amplitude characteristics for input.
In addition, by using a circular wave horn with a 150 ° sharp opening in the horn section, we have achieved almost flat characteristics with 120 ° directivity.
The network section is composed of a combination of 6dB/oct. and 18dB/oct., and is designed to have a wideband transfer characteristic of 1 to flatten the phase characteristics in the system.
In the unit layout, the sound center of each unit is aligned with a vertical line when viewed from the side in order to flatten the phase in the listening position.
