Commentary

This 3-way speaker system uses a honeycomb planar vibrating plate.

The honeycomb structure was developed as a structure for jet planes and space ships. It is lightweight and highly rigid by sandwiching a honeycomb core with aluminum skin material. In order to take advantage of this honeycomb structure, a flat diaphragm is adopted. This eliminates the disturbance of frequency characteristics caused by air resonance that occurs in the cone shape.

A flat woofer with a 25 cm honeycomb disk diaphragm is mounted in the low range.
The honeycomb disk diaphragm is driven through a hard aluminum drive cone to extend the piston motion range to 3.3 kHz. The edge is made of urethane foam with excellent linearity at large amplitude. In addition, a down roll shape is used to avoid adverse effects due to diffraction.
The voice coil is designed to withstand high temperatures up to 200 ℃.

The mid-range has a flat mid-range with 8 cm honeycomb disk diaphragms.
By driving the honeycomb disk diaphragm through a hard aluminum drive cone, the low-order resonance mode is canceled, and flat frequency characteristics are obtained in a wide band from 200 Hz to 7.5 kHz. The edge part is made into a down roll shape to prevent the deterioration of frequency characteristics due to sound pressure radiation from the edge in the high band, and the edge is covered with an edge cover.
The voice coil has a high input resistance design in which a high heat-resistant wire is wound around an aluminum bobbin excellent in heat radiation.

The high-frequency range is equipped with a full-drive leaf tweeter that inherits the performance of the 10TH800.
This unit is exactly the same as the tweeter used in the SB-10. It realizes an ultra-high frequency reproduction capability of 125 kHz and is designed to withstand 20W (RMS) continuous sine wave input.

Equipped with independent continuously variable level control for tweeter and mid-range.

The enclosure is fully enclosed with 18 mm thick high-density particle board.
The interior is fully reinforced by the finite element method, and air leak is suppressed by the highly accurate Z-shaped three way stop system wooden frame.
The exterior has a walnut finish.
