This FM/AM tuner is equipped with the NEW advanced active reception circuit and also supports AM stereo.

It is equipped with NEW Advanced Active Reception Circuit to respond to all radio wave conditions, and maintains optimum reception quality by instantaneously judging radio wave conditions such as input sensitivity and adjacent interference using microcomputer.
The RF-attenuator can be adjusted in 7 steps from 0 dB to -15dB. The IF band selector is equipped with wide-narrow 2-step adjustment, antenna A/B switching to automatically select the better one of the 2 systems of FM antennas, Chinese arrowhead control (switching to Stereo/Hi Blend depending on the radio wave condition), etc., and control in a total of 39 steps is performed.
Manual antenna switching with a tact switch is also available.

It is equipped with a 3D system which is Kenwood's original tuner technology.
The Direct Linear Reception Circuit (DLRC) guarantees S / N of 95 dB (mono) in the entire reception band, the Distortion Collecting Circuit (DCC) realizes high selectivity and low distortion, and the Direct Linear Loop Detector (DLLD) reliably extracts information. These circuits improve reception accuracy in the entire band.

This is the first Kenwood separate tuner to support AM stereo.
The MPX section has been strengthened to support AM stereo, and the range has been widened by approximately 30% compared with conventional AM tuners.

A low-pass filter is composed of a discrete active circuit in order to completely remove the stereo pilot signal which is slightly leaked to the analog output of the final stage.

In addition to the 3-channel signal meter, it is equipped with a digital field strength indicator.
The electric field strength is displayed in dB, making it easy to adjust the direction of antenna installation.

The front-end uses GaAs (gallium arsenide) elements.

3-station program memory and memory backup are installed.

It comes with a 29 key full remote control as well as Kenwood pre-main amplifier and AV amplifier and system remote control operation.
