KENWOOD S270
¥ 95,000 (a set of two cars, around 1997)
Commentary
This 2-way speaker system uses handmade horn made of natural materials.
The high range has a 2.5 cm dome type tweeter with a horn on the front.
The horn section is a Canadian Hard Maple Solid Horn made of natural materials by hand one by one. It controls the sound and wave surface at the time of close-up listening. This makes the wave surface closer to the plane and reduces time and phase differences.
A 12 cm cone type woofer is installed in the low range.
The front baffle uses a Diffused Diffraction Design (DDD) baffle to prevent diffracted sound waves from adversely affecting sound quality.
By reducing the corners as much as possible and making the distance from the unit to the corners not equal, diffraction is dispersed and reduced.
The unit is laid out in a Unifrom Delay (UD) layout in which the positional relationship is precisely determined by measurement.
This realizes a natural sound field by synchronizing the arrival time of the first wave of the two units to the ear.
In addition, the unit is fixed by UR mount which is fixed to the baffle with metal fittings covering the whole unit.
The net grill uses a newly developed DD grill that does not pollute sound.
