Commentary
This bookshelf type speaker system is based on the concept of utilizing the advantages of full-range speakers for multi-way speakers.
A 27 cm cone type woofer is installed in the low range.
Cloth-dyneema diaphragm, long voice coil, aluminum die-cast frame, etc. are adopted to reduce strain.
The mid-range has a wide range of 450 Hz to 6 kHz, and is equipped with a 12 cm cone type squaker.
The diaphragm is made of Cloth-dyneema. By combining Dyneema fiber and carbon fiber with Kenwood's unique technology, we have achieved a diaphragm that is light, rigid, and less resonant.
The center cap shape also improves high-frequency characteristics.
A 2.5 cm dome type tweeter is installed in the high range.
This unit uses an aluminum die-cast spherical wave horn baffle to enable more natural and smooth high-sound radiation and to obtain directivity with a wider listening position. In addition, the dome is a DICA (Direct Inner Class A Suspension) structure that integrates the diaphragm, voice coil, and edge. Since no adhesive is used, the voice coil directly drives the diaphragm, reducing weight and increasing rigidity.
A unique crystal plasma diamond diaphragm is used for the diaphragm. A diamond layer is formed on the surface of titanium to obtain light weight and strong characteristics, and the upper limit frequency is improved.
By adopting a distributed arrangement for the network part, reciprocal induction generated in circuits of each band is suppressed.
The enclosure has been designed to minimize the size of the cabinet (front projected area) by optimizing the unit diameter and designing the mounting structure, so that the sound source is closer to the point and the sound image localization is improved.
The front baffle of the front baffle is 30 mm, which is a laminated structure consisting of two 15 mm plates. This reduces unnecessary vibration and is equipped with a bass reflex duct on the back.
There were 2 types, LS-M5 in brown color and LS-M5 (D) in dark brown color.
