Commentary
This is a top-of-the-class stereo pre-main amplifier that combines one stereo preamplifier, six monaural power amplifiers and eight frequency-division filters.
It is named Supreme, and it is a model developed using the circuit technology of Trio at that time. Each of them is handmade.
The power amplifier section is a pure complimentary service circuit of ITL-OTL system and is composed of all-silicon transistors.
In particular, research has focused on the highest grade, and low distortion of less than 0.05% has been achieved for both low, medium, and high tone amplifiers below medium output.
A large amount of NFB also improves the damping factor.
The filter section is NF type and has attenuation characteristics of 12dB/oct. The crossover frequency can be switched between 400Hz/800Hz for low-to-medium sound and between 2.5kHz/5kHz for medium-to-high sound.
Also, the FLAT position is provided so that all channels can be used as a flat amplifier. This position is also designed for low distortion due to the large amount of NFB generated by the emitter follower.
The preamp section uses the circuit technology that Trio is proud of in order to provide the characteristics and functions especially for professional use.
The tone control incorporates the advantages of the NF and CR types. The low tone control is a variable turn-over and roll-off frequency type. The high tone control is displayed in dB at 10 kHz. The high tone control can be switched between turn-over and roll-off.
It also includes a defeat switch that completely flattens the tone circuit.
The equalizer circuit has a specially designed low input terminal that can be directly connected to a low-power MC cartridge, eliminating the need for step-up transformers and head amplifiers.
The low input terminal can be switched to the normal input level by a switch in the front cover.
The equalizer, which has a great influence on sound quality, takes advantage of the characteristics of hand-made products, and is fully adjusted every unit.
