Commentary
A GSL series tape deck with an HD ferrite head and SL recording mechanism.
The A-6010GSL supports Type 17 (No. 7) reel with tape speeds of 19 cm and 9.5 cm.
The head uses HD (High Density) ferrite head. This head uses super-hard high density ferrite with excellent wear resistance for the core material and Permalloy alloy with high saturation point and excellent electromagnetic conversion characteristics for the base part of the head. By combining these two materials with the joint technology developed by TEAC, excellent characteristics are realized.
It is equipped with SL recording mechanism in order to utilize the performance of low noise tape.
The GSL series takes advantage of low-noise tapes by incorporating a bias current selector. The equalizer / level selector switch allows recording to match the tape. When recording with a low-noise tape, set the equalizer / level selector switch to High.
When the equalizer / level selector switch is set to High, the level indication of the VU meter goes down by 3 VU and you can record up to plus 6 VU while monitoring the meter.
Equipped with a large VU meter.
Since the scale is an expanded type that is close to a straight line, the interval between the low and high levels is wide, enabling reliable monitoring up to + 3 vu. In addition, the delivery level can be freely adjusted by the output volume linked to the VU meter.
The amplifier section is equipped with a dedicated amplifier of 4 units in total, 2 systems for recording and playback respectively. The equalizer stage is a 3-stage direct connection type, and it is designed to have room with dynamic margin.
It is equipped with a simultaneous monitoring function so that you can compare the input from the program source and the playback output from the recorded tape with a switch during recording.
It uses a soft touch switch that combines micro switches and relays.
A delay circuit is inserted in the pinch roller mechanism to improve the rise in reverse and to protect the tape.
When the capstan rotates in the reverse direction and the constant speed rotation is achieved, the pinch roller instantaneously compresses the tape and drives the tape.
It is equipped with a PS system Oatley bus function that allows Oatley bus signals to be placed wherever they want.
By simply pressing the Signal Record button and playing, you can record signals of opposite phases. The Oatley berth signal is detected by the recording head.
It also incorporates a commonly used foil sensing circuit.
The microphone input and line input volumes are independent, making it possible to mix both.
It has a built-in amplifier for monitoring headphones.
