Commentary
A synthesizer FM/AM tuner with improved characteristics by introducing Wave Optimaizer Technology in addition to a direct comparator that reduces noise and beat generation.
We introduced the new Wave Optimizer Technology to improve two mutually conflicting aspects of the tuner : high selectivity and improved sound quality.
One of them is the Wave Optimaized Direct Deflector (WODD).
By differentiating the VCO at around 10.7 MHz and correcting the nonlinearity of the VCO to make it straight, low distortion is realized, and the IF signal is detected clearly.
In addition, we use the Wave Optimaized IF System, which optimizes the group delay waveform for monaural and the amplitude waveform for stereo, and optimizes the IF waveform independently for monaural and stereo to reduce distortion.
It employs a direct comparator method in which the comparison frequency of the synthesizer is raised to 100 kHz, the same as the channel plan. This reduces noise and beat and improves the SN ratio.
In addition to the frequency of the station, it is equipped with FM/AM random preset by multi-process memory which can store muting ON/OFF, FM auto, stereo / mono, and DISTANT positions.
In addition, it is equipped with three tuning mechanisms of auto / manual / sweep, and operability is improved by enabling absence recording across four stations.
Using the high selectivity characteristics of WODD when receiving FM, it is equipped with a DISTANT switch that can switch the selectivity while suppressing distortion.
Uses newly developed PLL MPX which consists of VCO with ceramic oscillator.
A dual-gate MOS FET is used in the front end section.
The AM tuner section uses a 4-element ladder filter to achieve higher quality reception.
Equipped with a memory scanning function.
The AM antenna uses a wave catcher that can be freely set in the direction in which AM radio waves are easily received.
Memory backup by lithium battery is installed.
It is also possible to reserve the reception directly with the separately sold timer PT-D555ES.
Also, there was a side wood sold separately.
