Commentary
A top-of-the-line FM stereo tuner developed with Sony's technical capabilities to meet the needs of the FM multi-station era and achieve superior reception performance even in strong electric fields.
A high-precision 5-row varicon is used for the front end section, and a 4-stage tuning circuit is constructed.
Selective low-noise FETs and circuit technology improve intermodulation and interference rejection characteristics.
The intermediate frequency stage configuration consists of nine IF amplifiers, eight newly developed solid-state filters, six symmetrical diode limiters, and three transistor limiters.
This enables stable reception of the weak broadcasts immediately adjacent to powerful high-power stations.
In addition, the solid state filter is completely non-adjustable to prevent changes over time.
In order to receive as many stations as possible during muting operation, the muting operation level is designed to be low enough (3 μ V ~).
It is equipped with a high-blend circuit that mixes the left and right channels to cancel out high-frequency noise when the stereo signal is weak.
It can be switched to 3 levels so that the lowest condition can be selected depending on the strength of the radio wave.
In addition to the tuner input meter, it is equipped with a full-scale tuning meter that can be tuned to the midpoint of the discriminator.
With a 230 mm wide dial, it is equipped with a highly accurate linear scale that can directly read 200 kHz.
By using the highest quality parts, it boasts a stability of ± 20 khz or less against temperature changes of -5 ℃ to + 45 ℃.
Two systems of fixed and variable output are mounted.
