Commentary
The RX series speaker system uses POM whiskers for the diaphragm.
A 20 cm cone type woofer is installed in the low range.
Similar to the 30 cm woofer mounted on the SS-RX7, it adopts a cone paper shape determined by analysis and hearing by NASTRAN. It uses diaphragm material that can provide rich and firm low sound, and is supported by urethane edge and high linearity damper.
In addition, the magnetic circuit is designed with low distortion by adopting a large magnet and a yoke with holes.
The mid-range is equipped with a 7 cm cone type mid-range in which POM whisker and polyolefin resin mainly polypropylene are combined and integrated into the diaphragm.
POM (polyoxymethylene) whisker is a material that succeeded in mass production and practical use in the joint research with the Fiber and Polymer Materials Research Institute of the Agency of Industrial Science and Technology. It has a shape like sea urchin, in which tens to hundreds of needle-like single crystals with a thickness of 1 to 3 microns and a maximum of around 150 microns protrude from the center in all directions. It is lighter than carbon fiber (specific gravity 1.49, carbon fiber approx. 1.7). It is extremely uniformly dispersed in resin. It has good wettability and adhesion. It also has a high elastic modulus. It has a sound speed of 9000m per second, about 1.8 times that of aluminum or titanium. Various characteristics are improved by using this material for the diaphragm.
A 2.5 cm soft dome type tweeter is installed in the high range.
A flexible special film is used for the diaphragm, and the edge and dome are integrally molded to reduce distortion.
The enclosure uses a bass-reflex structure.
