Commentary
This is a tall boy type speaker system developed as an ideal speaker for large-screen displays.
SAW (Super Acoustically Loaded Woofer) system with two 16 cm cone type woofers is adopted for the ultra low range.
In this system, a driving speaker unit is installed between the two cabinets, and the necessary low-frequency reproduction sound is extracted from the duct. At the same time, the sound above the middle and low frequencies is cut off by an acoustic filter. This makes it possible to effectively reproduce the high-low frequencies. In addition, since the load is applied symmetrically with respect to the motion of the diaphragm in the front-back direction, the driving system with small amplitude and less distortion is realized.
A 16 cm cone type woofer is installed in the low range.
A 2.5 cm dome type tweeter combined with a CD (Constant Directivity) horn is installed in the high range.
By attaching a short horn to the dome tweeter, which originally has wide directivity, the directivity in the short diameter (up and down) direction is sharpened and the directivity in the long diameter (left and right) direction is greatly improved. In addition, the shape of the neck of the horn is elliptical to apply acoustic damping to the diaphragm, thereby reducing distortion.
The enclosure has a pentagonal cross section and is a tall boy type with a high degree of freedom in the installation direction.
