Commentary
A speaker system developed as the second generation of the SS-G5.
More precise vibration analysis by NASTRAN and the latest know-how obtained in the development of the SS-G9 have been used to make improvements in about 30 locations.
A 30 cmCARBOCON woofer is used for the woofer. In addition to reinforcing each part of the unit to reduce squeal, a φ 75 mm voice coil and a strong magnetic circuit are used.
In the newly designed magnetic circuit, in particular, T-shaped poles and grooved plates are used to greatly reduce distortion.
The mid-range is balanced and designed to provide almost complete piston motion in the 5. 5 kHz band.
The tweeter uses a newly developed 3.5 cm balanced drive type, with titanium foil used for the diaphragm and copper wire used for the voice coil, and is carefully examined to the material level.
Networks are designed to improve transmission characteristics by increasing the cross-sectional area of a substrate or by using an electrolytic capacitor in a plastic case.
The baffle plate and back plate of the enclosure are grooved to control the squeal.
