This is the highest quality cassette deck developed by combining the deck technology that Sony has cultivated for 30 years.

Independent suspension type 3-head system has been adopted, the occupied space is equivalent to the combination head, the pad touches the 2 heads uniformly, and the azimuth can be finely adjusted.
Both recording and playback heads use S & F heads that combine the high magnetic flux density of Sendust alloy with the superior high-frequency characteristics of ferrite.

Quartz Lock Servo D. D. is used for the motor, and precise rotational characteristics are realized by controlling the rotational speed of the BSL Green Motor with the quartz lock servo.
In addition, by adopting the direct drive method, which is the most advantageous in principle for capstan drive, stability of rotational characteristics is improved.

Closed-loop dual capstan system is adopted.

The flat amplifier for recording and playback has a twin monaural structure for all stages, and at the same time a DC amplifier structure is adopted.
In addition to the circuit layout that follows the signal flow, the direct coupling with no condenser between the head and the reproducing amplifier, and the dual-FET differential 2-stage SEPP circuit are used to eliminate signal modulation factors as much as possible.

A transformer with cut core is used for the power supply.

It is equipped with a bias and recording level calibration function to precisely adjust the correction bias and tape sensitivity which differ slightly depending on the tape used.

It uses a multi-functional wide-range peak program meter that comprehensively displays various information such as the maximum recording level for each type of tape.
It is also equipped with a linear electronic counter that displays the amount of travel in minutes and seconds.

Uses a magnet clutch with stable torque and increased reliability of the mechanism.

It has a fixed output and a variable output. The variable output is a low-impedance attenuator that is linked to the headphone output.
The input terminal is gold-plated.

Equipped with an MPX filter switch.

Equipped with a 4-position tape selector that switches the bias and equalizer simultaneously.

Equipped with Rec Mute with autospace and autoplay / memory play functions.

Oxygen-free copper wire is used for the AC cord.

By using the separately sold timer, continuous absence recording and alarm clock playback are possible.

By using separately sold NR Processor NR-500, it is also compatible with Dolby NR / C type.

You can operate from a remote location by using a wireless remote control or wired remote control sold separately.
In addition, by using the separately sold synchronized remote control unit, it is possible to play synchronized with the performance of the player with remote control terminal and the playback deck.
