This is the top-of-the-line tape deck of the Secloff (セクロフ) series developed by integrating Sony-brand technologies.

It uses the closed-loop dual capstan system, which is also used in professional aircraft.
In this system, two capstan heads are used and the head is placed in the center of the capstan, so that vibration and uneven tension during tape travel are suppressed in front of the head, and the sound quality is improved by reducing wow, flutter, modulation noise, and speed fluctuation.
In addition, the motor shaft is directly connected to the capstan on the side of the playback head.

The motor is an AC servo motor that uses a coaxial frequency generator and servo amplifier to compensate for changes in rotational speed and maintain the correct rotational speed.
In addition, a 3-motor system has been adopted in which a dedicated reel motor is installed for each of supply and winding.

The 2-track playback head uses an F & F head with improved contour effect. This head uses an all-ferrite structure that uses homogeneous ferrite not only in the core part but also in the guard part. It achieves about 200 times more wear resistance than a permalloy head, and improves frequency characteristics by suppressing high-frequency loss. In addition, it is an improved contour effect type that improves slight waviness near 100 Hz.
In addition, an F & F head is installed for 4-track playback.
In addition, we have adopted a direct coupling method in which the head and the preamplifier are directly connected. This eliminates the need for capacitors and other elements between the head and the amplifier, resulting in no degradation of sound quality.
We have also developed and adopted a low-noise FET with excellent linearity and high-frequency characteristics in the first stage of the preamplifier to reduce distortion and noise.

It uses an optical peak program meter with a response speed of 1 msec to realize accurate display.
In addition, it can hold the peak value and can also be used as a VU meter by switching the switch.

Equipped with a 4-digit linear timer counter with an error within ± 1% corresponding to time at 38cm/s.

Sony's original logical control system is used.

Uses synchronized track mechanism for accurate after-recording.

A balanced MIC input of the cannon type is installed on the rear panel.

During playback, you can control the tape speed up to ± 10% at 38cm/s.

Equipped with a pause and shifter off switch.

Equipped with a 2-stage bias / 3-stage equalizer switchable tape selector.

Uses an auto shut-off mechanism.

Comes with a dust protector.

It can be operated from a remote location operation.
