The component-style cassette deck was released as Sony's first upright see-through deck series.

The mechanism part adopts an upright perspective type, and the cassette is vertically upright when the cassette is inserted.
This makes it easier to confirm the characters written on the labels of the cassettes, and also makes it easier to clean and demagnetize the heads.
A see-through light on the back of the cassette allows you to see how much tape remains.

The head uses an F & F (ferrite & ferrite) head with an all-ferrite structure that achieves abrasion resistance approximately 200 times that of permalloy and excellent high-frequency characteristics.

By connecting a timer (sold separately), you can record your absence or play an alarm clock.
During timer standby, the pinch roller is separated from the capstan so that no burden is placed on the mechanism.

Uses a soft eject mechanism by the action of an air damper.

Equipped with a Dolby NR system that reduces hissing inherent to the tape.

Equipped with a limiter ON/OFF switch that suppresses instantaneous excessive input and automatically maintains an appropriate recording level.

Equipped with a tape selector with 3 levels of bias and 3 levels of equalizer.

The stereo line input jack is mounted on the front panel.

Equipped with a large VU meter.
In addition, it is equipped with a peak level meter that lights up when it senses an instantaneous excessive input that cannot be followed by the VU meter.

Equipped with level control for line input.

The line input circuit and independent microphone circuit are installed, and the microphone input is also equipped with level control.
For this reason, it is possible to record mixing lines and microphones.

Equipped with line input level control.

The MPX filter can be turned ON/OFF.

A frequency control servo motor with FG is used for the motor.

Equipped with auto shut-off mechanism.
