Commentary

A high-grade stereo cassette deck with an F & F head and FET amplifier.

A closed-loop dual capstan system is adopted for the mechanism.
This method, in which the head is placed in the center of two capstan heads, not only provides constant head touch, but also improves the running stability of the tape by suppressing the vibration and uneven tension that occur while the tape is running.
In addition, a hysteresis synchronous motor with anti-vibration measures is newly adopted for the motor, which improves wow flutter and suppresses modulation noise and speed fluctuation.

Equipped with a full auto-stop mechanism, it has a mechanical auto-shut-off mechanism that automatically returns the operation button, head and pinch roller to the stop position when the tape has been wound regardless of whether recording, playback, fast forward or rewind.
As a result, there is no unnecessary burden on the mechanical part and tape.

Sony's proprietary F & F (ferrite & ferrite) head is used.
The first feature of this head is that ferrite is used up to the guard part, and it is 200 times more wear-resistant than the laminate type. Therefore, the head does not become unbalanced, and the bias value set at the beginning does not change over a long period of time, so the frequency characteristics and distortion characteristics are semi-permanently unchanged.
In addition, the front surface of the head has a uniform black mirror finish, so the head touch of the tape is good and dust adhesion does not occur.
The second feature is the excellent frequency characteristics with almost no core loss and an ultra-narrow gap of 1.5 μ m. This is influenced by the adoption of FET for the preamplifier, which can be designed by taking advantage of the low thermal noise of the ferrite head.

An FET preamplifier is used in the preamplifier section to take advantage of the characteristics of the F & F head. Two FETs with excellent linearity and high-frequency characteristics and low noise are used in the first stage.
This makes use of the characteristics of a fair-light head with less high-frequency loss, and reduces amplifier noise.

It is equipped with a tape selector switch and a Sony Chromicassette (CrO2Tape) can be used.

Equipped with a limiter recording method developed by Sony.
In this system, if the limiter switch is turned ON after manual level adjustment, the correct input is recorded in the state of manual recording, and the limiter circuit operates automatically only when a large input is unexpectedly input to prevent distortion.
Manual recording is also possible if this method is turned off.

Equipped with a level meter with lighting independent on the left and right with a dedicated amplifier of 2 transistors and 2 diodes.

It is equipped with a headphone output with 2 levels of volume switching with a special amplifier.
