Commentary

SONY's ES series pre-main amplifier developed with the aim of "colorless, transparent and warm sound quality".

In the preamplifier section, 8 FETs out of 10 FETs are used, and each FET is operated with a margin at the best operating point.
In addition, this FET employs a specially developed NF (Noise Figure) that is extremely low, and noise is not a concern even when using a moving coil type cartridge with a low output voltage of several mV.

All stages of the power amplifier are directly connected, and no coupling capacitor is used.
As a result, the output, distortion characteristics and damping factor are not reduced even in a low frequency range compared with an output circuit using a conventional capacitor, and high-quality low-frequency reproduction is possible.

Equipped with a quick access switch that allows easy selection of Phono1, Tuner and one pre-selected input with a lever.

In addition to the high and low filters, it is also equipped with a loudness switch to compensate for the sense of hearing at low volume.

The preamp and power amp can be used independently by using the switches on the back.

You can use two pairs of speaker systems.

The AUX3 input is provided as a jack on the front panel for easy connection.

It is equipped with a speaker protection circuit for abnormal operation of the amplifier, and a load impedance detection type protection circuit to protect the transistor even if the speaker terminal is shorted by mistake.
