SONY AVU-1000
¥ 150,000 (released in 1994)
Commentary
AV amplifier with built-in FM/AM tuner equipped with unique visual touch mechanism.
It comes with a one button remote control that transmits radio waves. It can be operated with a single remote control while watching the screen displayed on the monitor. This one button remote control uses a gyroscope to detect the vertical and horizontal angle change of the hand holding the remote control and convey it as the movement of the pointer on the screen.
UHF-band radio waves are used instead of infrared waves to transmit remote control signals. Compared with infrared waves, radio waves have the advantage that signals can easily reach even if there are obstacles such as sofas.
Commands from the one button remote control are retransmitted from the infrared transmitter on the front panel of the AV amplifier to control the VCR and LD player. Since the AVU-1000 is designed for wide directivity, it can be operated with almost no problem even when stored in a rack.
Since the AVU-1000 is equipped with a remote control signal learning function, it is compatible with AV equipment manufactured by other companies than Sony. In addition, the AVU-1000 can operate lighting devices, electric screens, and other devices that are controlled by infrared remote controls.
It has a visual Line 5 and four audio inputs.
It is equipped with functions such as Auto Start which can set the source started when the power is turned on, Auto Play which automatically starts playback only by selecting a function, and Sound Field Link which can link sound field programs to functions.
In addition, it is equipped with an auto program function that automatically executes a series of operations such as switching the function to LD, turning off the light, and playing back the LD. Two programs can be set independently up to 10 steps. Each step can also be set with a waiting time (1 second, 2 seconds, 5 seconds, 10 seconds).
It is equipped with 10 sound field programs including Dolby Pro Logic.
In particular, two programs, Theater and Live, add the sound of a theater and the sound of a concert hall to the signal output from the Dolby Pro Logic Decoder. You can enjoy Dolby stereo movie and music software in the atmosphere of a movie theater or concert hall.
Equipped with a digital surround processor, it is equipped with various parameters that simulate the size of the room, the material of the wall, the front-rear and left-right positions of the seat, etc., and can be set according to the sound field program.
Equipped with a 3-band digital equalizer that can adjust the bass, mid and treble independently.
Both bands can be increased or decreased by ± 10 dB in 1 dB steps. The Mid band adopts a parametric method that can change the slope (Q) characteristics in addition to selecting the center frequency, so that sound can be created according to the source to be reproduced and the situation.
For example, you can listen to a CD while watching a video, and you can select the image of a visual device and the sound of an audio device independently from each other for simultaneous casting playback.
It has a built-in FM/AM tuner that uses a quartz lock digital synthesizer system.
30 random station memory is available, and the original radio station name can be displayed on the screen.
The A/D converter uses a 1-bit A/D converter that performs high-magnification oversampling operations, while the D/A converter uses noise-shaping technology and a pulse D/A converter that reproduces sound with pulse density.
Built-in power amplifier for 5 channels.
Using an optical device that controls the bias signal at high speed, it is equipped with an optical legato linear system that reduces switching distortion and crossover distortion, and an S. T. D. (スポンティニアス Twin Drive) power supply that supplies power separately and independently from the rectifier circuit. This reduces interference between the voltage amplification stage and the output stage.
