Commentary
This bookshelf type speaker system was announced as a super tuned model based on the basic design of the Platinum Solo.
It is equipped with a 9 cm metal cone type woofer in the low range and a 2.5 cm metal dome type tweeter in the high range.
These units are designed for the Solo/Duo and are selectively used within ± 0.5 dB of the characteristic deviation so that the total frequency characteristic is kept within ± 1 dB.
The network section uses metalized PP capacitors and other high-quality parts. In particular, the coil uses an air-core type with a special structure in which a wide copper foil is wound in the form of a tape. This coil has frequency-reactance characteristics that are very close to those of an ideal inductor. In addition, there is no degradation of high-frequency linearity due to the skin effect, making it possible to minimize electrical loss and compression.
In addition, the heat generated by the resistance element is discharged from the heat sink installed on the back of the network to suppress the temperature rise of the network.
The enclosure uses a new material, Abonite Solid.
With a specific gravity approximately 2.6 times that of MDF, Abonite Solid has a texture and feel similar to that of marble. Moreover, it is homogeneous and stable unlike natural materials. This material is used in a 2-ply (26 mm thick) and is assembled into a tough box structure.
In addition, by adopting die-cast rear baffle and top / bottom plate, excellent rigidity and damping effect are realized.
The exterior is polished to make use of the texture of Abonite.
The sound is tuned with the front grill attached, and the grill is non-detachable.
