Commentary

Based on TL 1601 a, this 40 cm cone shaped woofer was developed to respond to professional use in the digital source age while keeping the basic performance as it is.

In addition to inheriting the features of TL-1601a, such as tough and lightweight cone, corrugation type cloth edge coated with special damping agent, and aluminum die-cast frame, a higher level of input resistant design has been introduced.
This design further pursued the design concept of maintaining high performance up to high input power. The maximum input power is increased to 500W by such methods as providing ventilation holes in the voice coil bobbin, forced air cooling through the opening holes in the frame and the center hole of the magnetic circuit.

The magnetic flux density of 12,400 gauss has been obtained by further upgrading the magnet material. The output sound pressure level of 97.5 db has been achieved by adding this high magnetic flux density magnetic circuit to the vibration indication system and long voice coil with good linearity.

The signal input path has also been improved. By installing a large vise type connector, it is possible to use a very thick speaker cable. In addition, a low-impedance OFC (oxygen-free copper) Kinshi wire is used to transmit input signals straight to the voice coil.

Compatibility is improved by making the external dimensions exactly the same as TL-1601a.
