Pioneer PAX-38X

Commentary

38 cm 3-way compound speaker unit.

The PAT-38X is a 3-way speaker consisting of three units with completely independent voice coil and magnetic circuit.
The structure consists of a hollow center pole in the Woofer's magnetic circuit and Woofer's cone paper in the Scoker's horn, and the Scoker's magnetic circuit is attached to the rear end of the speaker.
The tweeter is mounted by a bridge at a position slightly offset from the central axis of the woofer.

For the cone paper of the woofer part, Cross Edge cone (a piece of cone paper with a separately made cloth edge attached to the edge part) is used, and special damping agent is applied to the edge part, which lowers the lowest resonance frequency and reduces distortion in the low range.
Aluminum wire is used for the voice coil, and special hardened conductive paint is applied to prevent disconnection.

A horn type is used for the mid-range and high-range.
A polyester resin film is used for the diaphragm.

The pole and yoke are designed so that the unbalance of the magnetic flux distribution is minimized after the magnetic flux distribution is precisely measured, and the driving force applied to the voice coil is always constant to reduce distortion.

By adopting a damper with a circular corrugation, the stability of center holding is improved, and the generation of distortion due to the nonlinearity of the damper is reduced.

The frame and yoke cap are coated with baking paint, and the top of the yoke cap is made of transparent plastic material so that you can see the midrange diaphragm and the front and back of the speaker center axis.

It comes with a specially designed 3-way network.
In this network, L, C and attenuators are combined in a single metal case that is baked and painted gray, and the attenuation of each band is 12dB/oct.

For the connection with the dedicated network, W is for woofer, S is for squaker, and T is for tweeter.
The standard position of the attenuator is the fourth position from the MIN position for the squaker and the third position from the MIN position for the tweeter.
