Commentary
Digital synthesizer tuner with one touch speed tuning and preset tuning.
Each of FM and AM can be preset with 6 stations. The memory is completed by tuning the desired station and pressing the memory switch and the tuning switch.
You can call up the desired station simply by pressing the UP/DOWN tuning knob.
The knob can be manually operated in increments of 100 kHz for FM and 1 kHz for AM. The knob can be operated in increments of high frequency by pressing the knob above and low frequency by pressing the knob below.
With the built-in last-one memory mechanism, the back-up power circuit operates even after the switch is turned off, so when the switch is turned on again, the same station can be received.
It uses a highly reliable quartz lock circuit for accurate and stable reception.
By applying the high precision of the crystal oscillator, it can accurately receive frequencies arranged at intervals of 100 kHz for FM and 9 kHz for AM without causing any tuning deviation.
In addition, since the frequency that has been tuned once is locked, stability is high.
The front-end section is designed to enhance the interference rejection capability.
It consists of a 3-series configuration using carefully selected high-performance varicap and an RF section using cascade-coupled junction FET.
In order to obtain excellent reception performance, a linear phase ceramic filter (2 elements x2) is adopted in the IF section to obtain excellent selectivity and to achieve flattening of the delay characteristics related to distortion and separation.
In addition, a new quadrature detector is used for the detector.
A direct-through MPX is used for the MPX part.
This is Pioneer's original switching method in which the signal is output as it is and unnecessary signals are directly grounded. Since this method is not affected by the nonlinearity of the transistor, noise and distortion generated during switching, clear stereo signals can be obtained.
The AM section uses a 3-stage AGC circuit with excellent strong input characteristics and a high-gain IF circuit.
It has a built-in REC level check that emits a 330 Hz reference signal when the switch is ON.
It has a built-in pilot signal auto-cancel circuit that automatically follows the transmission level fluctuation.
