Commentary
In addition to the functions of the top-of-the-line CD-980, it is an auto-reverse deck with a Oatley berth at the Rokuon-ji temple.
Equipped with a Oatley berth mechanism that employs LED sensors.
The use of an LED sensor eliminates the loss of the leader tape (approximately 12 ~ 15 seconds), which was the bottleneck of the conventional reverse method, and realizes a quick reverse. In addition, the CT 780 uses a recording / playback Oatley verse mechanism that allows the reverse to work not only during playback but also during recording, enabling a long-time air check.
3 dd system is adopted for the mechanism part.
The 3 dd system has a simple structure in which the capstan and left and right reels are directly driven by three independent motors.
The capstan motor uses a brushless DC servo hole motor with a coreless and slotless structure to reduce harmful components such as torque ripple and cogging. The reel motor also uses a brushless DC servo hole motor with a highly reliable coreless and slotless structure to achieve excellent durability and smooth tape travel.
A ribbon sendust head is used for the head part.
For the first time in the world, Sendust, which is hard and brittle and difficult to process, is made into a thin strip and multi-layer laminate. Compared with conventional Sendust heads, which were limited to three layers, this head reduces eddy current loss, expands the frequency range and dynamic range, and adapts to the characteristics of metal tapes.
As a noise reduction system, Dolby C type is installed in addition to Dolby B type.
The panel layout is divided into 3 parts. On the right side, various operation buttons for various tape play are arranged in a concentrated manner. In the center, LED illumination displays the tape running status, tape position and Dolby B/C position.
The meter uses a 2-color LED peak level meter with excellent response speed.
It is equipped with functions such as skip reverse which skips the unrecorded portion of the tape end and quickly plays the first track on the back of the cassette, index scan which continuously plays the head of the track, and blank search which quickly finds the unrecorded portion and sets the recording standby.
Equipped with timer standby mechanism, recording of absence and alarm clock playback are possible.
Equipped with a REC mute mechanism that can create unrecorded portions between songs.
It uses a new feeling operation key.
Equipped with one touch recording button.
By using the separately sold remote control unit, it can be operated from a remote location.
