Commentary
This tape deck has been developed for professional use.
N4522 is 2TR-38cm, and N4520 is 4TR-38cm.
The mechanism adopts a direct drive system, and the motor shaft itself of a low-speed high-precision motor is used as a capstan.
The capstan uses a quartz lock system. The reference frequency controlled by a quartz oscillator is connected to the movement of a 72-pole tachometer built into the flywheel to control the speed difference. A belt is connected between the outer circumference of the flywheel and the motor shaft, and the capstan shaft speed is quartz-locked with a high precision of 1/10,000.
It uses a large flywheel of 800g and 110 mm diameter and is supported by long life shield bearings (25 ~ 55 micron).
The eccentricity with the 6.5 mm capstan and the alignment of the axis are adjusted to less than 1 micron, and it can cope with changes in the thickness of the tape itself and tape elongation with time.
Equipped with linear tape length counter.
The conventional drive method of the tape counter was a main gun that counts the tape speed by the angle type with the tension arm on the take-up reel side. The N4520/N4522 are equipped with a guide roller that monitors the tape speed linearly. As the tape runs along with the tape, a pulse generator connected to the shaft sends out a number of pulses proportional to the length of the running tape. This count is displayed on the tape counter.
By automatically controlling the reel motor on the supply side while monitoring the pulse frequency and the angle of the tension arm, the tape tension and speed are always kept constant.
Equipped with a pulse count type fluorescent digital display tape counter.
A solid type FSX Sendust head with excellent wear resistance and high S/N ratio is used for the recording and reproducing heads.
Solenoid operated feather touch type operation button is used for the operation part.
It is a direct change type with built-in electronic circuit for tape protection.
Equipped with a mixing function, SOS recording and echo recording / playback are possible.
Low distortion rate recording is possible with the pilot tone filter built in for FM air check.
The bias / equalizer can be adjusted.
