Commentary
FM/AM tuner developed and equipped with Onkyo's original dynamic FM feedback technology.
FM feedback is a technology that introduces NFB, a distortion reduction technology for the amplifier, into the IF circuit and detector of the tuner. In addition, the IF spectrum signal is greatly compressed and the bandwidth of the IF circuit is expanded.
This allows the IF signal to pass through only the part with the best phase characteristics of the circuit, enabling linear amplification and transmission of wide-range IF signals for stereo reception and dynamic live broadcasting, resulting in low distortion and high separation combined with the NFB effect.
The IF is equipped with a linear phase filter and the detector with a wide-band linear detector, and the detection output is flat over the range of 20 Hz to 53 kHz, which is an excellent characteristic.
In the front end section, the RF stage is switched to two stages of Boost-OFF/ON.
The OFF position is designed for high-field areas and short-range reception. It has excellent interference rejection characteristics. After the input triple chain, it passes directly to the mixer without passing through the RF booster. The local output consists of a low-noise twin varicap for parallel use and a MOS FET buffer to drive the mixer.
The ON position is a position for low-power regions and long-distance reception. The triple tune is equipped with an RF booster by MOS FET and the input is single-tuned.
The IF section can switch between two levels of bandwidth, Wide = FM feedback and Narrow, depending on the reception conditions.
By combining this two step switching of IF bandwidth with the two step switching of front-end sensitivity, you can obtain the quality that matches the reception area and radio wave condition.
PLL IC is adopted in the MPX part, and 19 khz / 38 khz pilot canceler is mounted.
FM/AM12 station random preset memories are installed.
Especially, the memory stations 1 to 5 are timer compatible, and by using the timer together, 1 to 5 stations can be received sequentially.
A super turbo system is adopted to prevent the influence of modulation noise generated from the power supply and external noise entering from the AC power supply on the signal system.
The AM section is equipped with an AM IC which is completely independent from the FM section.
Equipped with automatic noise reduction and auto-tuning system.
