Commentary
The Quest Series speaker system is based on Onkyo's concept of "I want to enjoy music with really good sound".
Research and development of materials, circuit design and cabinet structure were all developed in pursuit of ideals.
For the lower range, a 12 cm unit by bio-Croscone is adopted.
In order to draw out the performance of the bi-croscone, we have adopted a new magnetostriction reduction technology (MDCT) to reduce magnetostriction and improve the rise response characteristics of the diaphragm.
In addition, the newly adopted pole-phase equalizer, which is made by cutting brass, realizes smooth middle-and-high sound reproduction without the effect of "hollow effect" and "cavity resonance".
The high-frequency band uses a 2.5 cm dome unit made of aluminum magnesium alloy that is 25% lighter than conventional units.
The enclosure is designed to disperse standing waves generated inside the enclosure by means of tapered side plates and internal soundbars, and to firmly support the woofer equipped with acoustic and stabilizer.
It is made of Yonematsu plywood with beautiful sound for the baffle plate and the back plate. It is finished with a real walnut plate.
In addition, an acoustic wave regulator is used to suppress the effect of standing waves.
The special stand sold separately has a veneer finish with walnut single material (solid wood) at both ends of the base part.
The top plate is a "restraint damping structure" with a 3 mm thick steel plate sandwiched with damping material to suppress unnecessary noise. In addition, two 50 mm square steel pipes are sandwiched between side plates (thrust plate finish) from both sides of the support part to suppress the swing of the support part.
In addition, 4 round rivets can be attached to the back side of the base, and the back 2 of them are adjustable in height.
