Integra C-500X
Commentary

CD player with optical transmission system.

Optical transmission systems use optolink modules (optical transmission devices) packaged with optical fibers and photocouplers to convert digital signals into optical switching signals for transmission. Digital and analog signals are electrically separated to reduce mutual interference.

The C-500X transmits Route 6 digital signals optically, and uses an opto-link module and a photo-coupler, which are connected by an 11 mm optical fiber between the transmitting and receiving optical elements, depending on the transmission speed. Newly developed opto-link modules are used for bit clocks, word clocks, and data signals that require relatively high speeds, while photo-couplers are used for L/R clocks, emphasis signals, and muting signals that require normal speeds. The former data signals are transmitted at relatively high digital frequencies from 176.4 kHz to 4.3218 MHz. If the distance between the light-emitting element and the light-receiving element is narrow, the effect of optical transmission cannot be obtained due to interference caused by electrical / electrostatic coupling. Therefore, the distance between the elements of the opto-link module is wide and the analog circuits are shielded.
In addition, all optical transmission systems that require high speed are IC-fired, and are miniaturized to increase speed.

As a vibration countermeasure, the whole mechanism is supported by four points with non-resilient rubber developed by Onkyo, and the mechanism body is also covered with an outsert compound molded product to enhance the vibration prevention effect.
For the cover, we adopted a non-high-speed vibration control structure that converts and absorbs pressure vibration energy into thermal energy, and developed a special material mixed with mica and resin-based materials to protect the circuit from external vibration.

A 96th order oversampling digital filter is used to cut out the high-frequency centered on the sampling frequency of 44.1 khz without affecting the phase characteristics of audio signals up to 20 khz.
By doubling the sampling frequency to 88.2 kHz and reducing the load on the following analog filters, phase and frequency characteristics have been improved.

Equipped with newly developed low pass filter for exclusive use of oversampling.

Non-contact switch is used for Play button.

Equipped with a headphone output with volume.

Wireless remote control is included.
