C-1VL
Commentary

A CD player with a clock that boasts the highest oscillation frequency accuracy in its class.

The clock circuit uses a crystal oscillator with oscillation frequency deviation on the order of PPM (parts per million).
This clock has a specially machined oscillation frequency deviation of ± 1.5 ppm at room temperature. Compared to the ± 50 ppm oscillator commonly used in this class of CD players, this crystal oscillator has one order of magnitude higher accuracy. The adoption of this crystal oscillator enhances the realistic reproduction of sound images and sound fields.

The D/A converter is equipped with WM8740, a Wolfson D/A converter, independent of L/R.
This DAC has a sampling frequency of up to 192 kHz and a bit depth of 24 bits. It has high S/N of 120 dB (mono) and 117 dB (stereo). In addition, it is designed to suppress digital noise, which adversely affects sound quality, and to reduce sound quality degradation caused by phase shift.

VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry) is used to eliminate digital noise.
The analog signal output from the DAC chip contains a large amount of pulsed digital noise, which is hard to hear because of its high frequency. However, when noise is mixed into a music signal, it makes it difficult to hear the next minute sound information, or noise and noise make a beat and generate a new noise component within the audible band.
The VLSC mounted on the C-1VL consists of a comparator, a vector generator, and an integrator. It generates a new analog signal with reference to the output of the DAC. This circuit does not respond to sudden changes such as digital noise, so the analog signal output from the VLSC has a waveform similar to the sound component of the DAC output without any noise component.

In order to cope with the effects of vibration on sound, we have introduced a method to control harmful vibration to harmless vibration mode without killing sound by thoroughly investigating the location where harmful vibration occurs mainly in the mechanism.
The casing panel is made of carefully selected materials and shapes such as aluminum and thick steel plates. The front panel and volume knob are made of highly rigid aluminum. In addition, the side panel is made of aluminum with ribs to increase the strength in the vertical direction, and the top panel is made of 1.2 mm steel plate to hold the entire casing firmly. Each part is made of different parts so that the material suitable for each part can be selected, and the propagation of vibration at the top and side parts is prevented.
In addition, taping is applied to parts of the housing that are susceptible to vibration.

The power supply section is equipped with a toroidal transformer with low leakage flux and good regulation.

The output terminal uses a machined gold plated pin jack.

The legs use a brass machined insulator.

Uses a Direct Digital Path that minimizes the negative impact of digital output signals on sound circuits.

Equipped with digital output ON/OFF switching function.

Wireless remote control is included.
