Commentary
While the 1000 Series pursued performance, the 700 Series aimed for something with beauty. The performance was as good as the 1000 Series Series, and the 700 II was one of the few 3-head cassette decks at that time.
By using an SR head instead of a permalloy head for the reproducing head, we succeeded in extending the life of the head.
A newly developed crystal ferrite head is used for the recording head.
The crystal ferrite head has low high-frequency frequency loss, it operates effectively at a bias frequency as high as 105 kHz. In addition, processing strain has been removed by improving the manufacturing method, and the magnetic field is focused strongly in an extremely narrow range and good high-frequency characteristics are obtained.
We succeeded in reducing temperature rise and improving erasing efficiency by installing a crystal ferrite erasing head instead of the conventional AC erasing method.
In addition, stainless steel tape guides are attached to the top and bottom of this erasing head to improve the running accuracy of the tape.
The 700 II uses an air damper that uses a cylinder to ensure that the contact between the tape and the head occurs quietly and slowly.
Similarly, a cylinder-type air damper is used for tape ejection, and the ejection speed can be varied by needle throttle.
400 Hz, 0 dB test tone enables accurate Dolby level adjustment.
5-channel 3-way mixing is possible with a blend microphone input.
