Marantz CD-65
¥ 64,800 (released in 1985)
Commentary
This CD player was developed based on the technology developed by the Philips Marantz Group and by investing more advanced technology.
Equipped with a Z-filter consisting of a 4 x oversampling digital filter and a third order Bessel filter.
The CD-65 inherits the basic configuration of the Z-filter, but it also incorporates the world's first 16-bit 4-times oversampling LSI as a D/A converter in place of the conventional LSI. In addition, newly developed LSIs for digital filters and PLL demodulation circuits before D/A conversion are introduced, and the decoder circuit is integrated into a 3-chip LSI.
The built-in 16-bit 4 x oversampling LSI is a 16-bit D/A converter operating at 176.4 kHz. Moreover, it adopts a 2D/A converter system with L/R-independent dedicated channels in one chip. It features a phase characteristic of 4 x oversampling and a wide bandwidth, while at the same time expanding the dynamic range to obtain excellent characteristics.
The mechanism is equipped with a CD-drive mechanism CDM-2 that uses new materials and new optical systems and pursues miniaturization, weight reduction, and non-vibration.
The CDM-2 uses high-density glass-wool plastic, which is used in medical devices and precision equipment, for its mechanical components such as sub-chassis and swing arm. This reduces weight and reduces resonance frequency.
The optical system uses Philips proprietary replica technology to coat the surface of the objective lens with a 10-micron non-spherical wave coating. The optical system consists of only two lenses (five lenses in the conventional system), eliminating spherical aberration caused by spherical lenses.
In addition, the focusing mechanism has been improved from the conventional MM type to the MC type, and the weight has been reduced from magnet to coil to realize quick tracking.
In order to eliminate adverse effects due to vibration and resonance, the resonance of the CD-drive mechanism CDM-2 itself is driven, and the CDM-2 is mounted in a completely floating structure.
The tray lid, which had been integrated with the tray in the past, has been made independent, and the entire CD drive mechanism including the tray has been separated from the chassis and floated.
Equipped with a digital output terminal.
It is equipped with direct play, random access program of up to 20 songs, pancreas ticket play of up to 99 songs, index play, 3 speed search and repeat function.
It is equipped with 3-way time display and headphone port with volume.
