Commentary

This is a Philips Marantz CD player with a sound quality design similar to the high-end model.

Equipped with a 4 x oversampling Z filter.
The Z-Filter, which consists of a digital filter that oversamples the sampling frequency (44.1 khz) to 176.4 khz, four times the sampling frequency, and a third order Bessel filter with excellent phase characteristics, ensures excellent phase characteristics. At the same time, the pass band is expanded to 30 khz to improve transient response characteristics.

The D/A converter is a 2 dac type that uses dedicated D/A converters for both left and right sides, and achieves 0 phase rotation.

A single-beam pickup with a simple structure and excellent detection capability is driven by a fully dynamic balanced arm.
In order to further improve its performance, the design of the laser pickup itself has been completely redesigned and a new optical system has been adopted. At the same time, we have succeeded in reducing its size.
By using Philips' proprietary replica technology, the surface of the objective lens is coated with a 10-micron aspherical film, and the optical system is composed of two lenses. This eliminates the focus shift caused by spherical aberration and provides a more accurate and stable pickup.
In addition, the focusing mechanism, which used to be MM (Moving Magnet) type, is composed of MC (Moving Coil) type, which eliminates pickup malfunction caused by disk failure.

The entire CD drive mechanism is mounted in a completely floating structure.
The tray lid, which used to be integrated with the tray, is also installed independently, and the CD drive mechanism including the tray is separated from the chassis and floated to reduce vibration and resonance.

We have developed and installed the CD-drive mechanism "CDM-2", which fully adopts "high-density glass wool plastic", a material used for medical devices.
While striving to reduce weight, the resonance frequency has also been reduced.

It is equipped with a random access program function of up to 20 songs.

It uses 3-speed search which can change speed in 3 stages.
