Commentary
This flat type speaker system inherits the design philosophy of the HS-10000, the largest speaker in the history of Lo-D announced in 1978, and attempts to minimize the size without sacrificing the characteristics.
In order to suppress the disturbance of frequency characteristics due to the diaphragm depression effect, a flat diaphragm filled with foamed resin is adopted.
In addition, the speaker units are arranged on the same circumference to improve the arrangement of sound sources, and the input signal is divided into two parts one after another using a two part network with a phase correction circuit to ensure theoretically flat characteristics.
The 25 cm passive radiators, 25 cm woofer and 5 cm mid-range use ギャザードエッジ and ギャザードスパイダ with high amplitude, high compliance and high self-resonant frequencies to reduce fo and distortion.
The Woofer and Midrange also offer Lordi actuators (low distortion circuits).
In order to obtain a low sound that extends to the lower range, a bass reflex enclosure with a passive radiator with a large internal volume of 270L for a 25 cm woofer is adopted. Especially, the bass reflex is designed not to generate a peak at Qo = 0.5 like the HS-10000.
The enclosure is 30 mm thick, consisting of two 15-mm-thick particleboards bonded together to increase its strength.
Even for a piston disk in an infinite baffle, when the wavelength becomes shorter than the diameter π / √ 2, the radiation energy decreases with a slope of 20dB/sec even though the characteristics on the front axis are flat.
Therefore, each speaker unit is connected with a crossover frequency of ka = √ 2 (k : wave constant, a : radius), which does not cause a decrease in radiation energy.
In addition, a small-diameter 2 cm tweeter with excellent dispersion is used for the high frequency range.
