Commentary
An FM/AM tuner developed with the aim of superior tuning accuracy of the synthesizer system and sound quality and reception performance exceeding those of the analog system.
A high-energy PLL circuit is adopted, and the response speed is improved by approximately 3 times by increasing the loop gain compared with the conventional PLL to increase the power and speed.
In addition, in order to follow the high-speed PLL, the tuning voltage of the varactor diode is allowed to have a margin, so that the error correction capability is greatly improved.
In addition, with the realization of high-speed operation, the comparison frequency can be set to 25 kHz, which is out of the audible band, compared with 12.5 kHz in the past, eliminating the problem of the component having an adverse effect on the audio signal system.
Equipped with a CPU-based C. A. T. system, it combines the four functions of an antenna attenuator, IF band switching, C. S. filter, and High Blend to constantly control excellent reception and playback.
For the front end section, a face-to-face twin varactor diode is used for the tuning circuit, and a dual MOS FET is used for the RF stage.
It also employs a spectrum AGC that adjusts the gain of the RF amplifier stage to minimize the amount of side-band interference energy to achieve both high sensitivity reception and high interference rejection reception.
Three types of ceramic filters with excellent group delay characteristics are used in the IF stage in combination with a differential amplifier with good limiter characteristics.
The IF offset function locks the received signal at the center of the band and synchronizes the total to the minimum point of distortion.
The detector stage is equipped with a superwide FM detector that directly detects IF signals and has linear characteristics over an ultra-wide band.
Linear detection characteristics have been achieved over a bandwidth of more than 5000 kHz, which is more than 30 times the bandwidth of 150 kHz corresponding to 100% FM modulation.
It is equipped with a C. S. filter that cuts out excess high-frequency components and eliminates beat interference caused by Radio noises from adjacent stations.
16 FM stations and 8 AM stations can be stored.
It is equipped with the last channel memory which stores the tuning station before turning off the power. The same station is received when the power is turned on.
A rectangular loop antenna is included for AM, so that it can be installed in the optimum position away from the tuner body.
It is equipped with an antenna attenuator, and in a strong electric field, when this switch is turned on, high interference rejection reception is possible by 6 varactor configuration which is equivalent to 6 series varicon.
Equipped with signal strength / multipath switching function, electric field strength can be displayed at 7 points for both AM/FM and multi-path quantity can be checked by switching.
Equipped with a test tone function, it can send a 440 Hz signal corresponding to 50% modulation of FM monaural.
The adjustment is completed when the meter on the deck side is positioned at -6dB from the maximum level.
