LMC-1
Commentary

MC type cartridge with unique power generation and support system.

The LMC (Linear Magneto-field Cross) power generation mechanism is adopted for the power generation system. The unique structure realizes ultra-lightweight, high-efficiency and linear power generation. With this system, the total weight of the power generation system is reduced to 1/8 of the conventional system, and the power generation efficiency is 5 times higher.
In the LMC power generation system, two ring-shaped samarium-cobalt dual magnets aligned coaxially with the direction of the cantilever generate an ideal magnetic field that is uniform in all directions at 360 ° around the cantilever without using a yoke. This allows the magnetic flux to be made perpendicular to the entire surface of the coil without loss, thus achieving both high efficiency and linearity.

A 0.3 φ sapphire rod is used for the cantilever to realize high fidelity transmission.

Natural diamond is used for the material of the stylus, and by making it a semi-line contact type with excellent tracing capability, elastic deformation of the record is minimized and traceability up to high frequencies up to 60 kHz is realized.

It adopts a concentrated mounting structure with a unique block chassis support structure.
In conventional MC cartridges with low power generation efficiency, the power generation system is heavy. Therefore, the monocoque structure, which is supported by the case itself without having a chassis to fix the power generation system, was used in order to achieve low mass. However, if a lightweight resin case is used with this method, harmful resonance occurs and coloring occurs in the reproduced sound. The LMC power generation system has succeeded in making the power generation system extremely light. Therefore, it is possible to have sufficient weight and strong structure for the support part. To solve this problem, a block chassis is formed using vibration-proof metal with excellent damping characteristics, and the entire vibration system is fixed in the axial (cantilever) direction. All other parts are also directly connected to the block chassis to form a centralized mounting structure.
This block chassis is the only structure that fixes the vibration system with this structure, and the cover is not related to the support structure to prevent the coloring of sound caused by deformation and squeal.
The LMC-1 uses an anti-vibration zinc alloy SPZ machined block chassis for this part.

In the vibration system, the vibrator point is made clear by stainless steel wire with excellent linearity, and the damper load, which is non-linear operation, is reduced by linearly absorbing the needle pressure load.

The mounting surface of the shell and is mirror finished to prevent resonance.
