Commentary
This pre-main amplifier is an improved version of the best-selling SQ5B (SQ5A) released by Lux Co. in 1960.
A terminal for tape has been added to the SQ5B, and a silicon rectification system has been adopted for the power supply.
Equipped with a characteristic power indicator on the front.
This meter indicates the output level of the left and right channels separately, as well as the stereo balance.
This meter is designed to shake off at maximum output.
The exterior case is Art Bond, a vinyl and metal plywood developed by US Rubber Co. in the United States of America. It is resistant to fading, scratches and dirt, and has high electrical insulation.
Soft roundness is created by unique press technology, and two tone color is used.
This design was also selected as a good design of Osaka Design House.
For the tone control, we have developed and adopted an original circuit in order to eliminate the characteristic distortion in the flat position that occurred with the conventional tone control.
As a result, flat characteristics can be obtained as required, and a click stopper is provided at that position, which is confirmed by a measuring instrument.
When connected to a tape, a monitor device can be used to separate the pre-section and main section so that playback sound can be heard simultaneously with recording.
For transformers, Lux-made transformers are used.
All of these transformers were covered for 10 years.
