Commentary
This pre-main amplifier was announced as the second generation of the SQ38 series.
There were two types, SQ38D with built-in booster transformer (6321S type) for low output cartridge and SQ38Ds without booster transformer.
6RA8 is used for the output tube. This vacuum tube is an MT-type triode equivalent to 2A3. It has a slightly higher gm compared to 2A3 and has improved efficiency, but the essential advantages are inherited as they are.
The output transformer uses the Lux OY type, which was created through more than 30 years of transformer manufacturing experience.
This transformer uses an Orient Core (grain-oriented cold-rolled core) and adds handcraft winding technology to realize a high-quality transformer.
The driver circuit is a 12AU7 and 6267 leak type (used in the Point One Amplifier by LEAK in the UK), and the output tube is operated by a fixed bias method.
The NFB is multiplied by 16 dB the damping factor is 16.
The power supply consists of a power transformer with low magnetic flux density, a silicon diode voltage doubler rectifier, and a choke coil.
The DC ignition system is adopted for all stages of the preamplifier section to eliminate hum completely.
The equalizer stage is NF-type and the tone control stage is NF-type.
The tone control uses a lux-type and can be restored to a flat characteristic without being defeated.
Equipped with a tape monitor and DIN connector.
