Commentary
A stereo power amplifier that overcomes the disadvantages of conventional high output power amplifiers and has acquired excellent characteristics.
The main amplifier consists of an all-stage direct-coupled pure-output OCL system using a 2-stage differential-amplifier circuit, and a parallel-triple push-pull complimentary service circuit.
The output stage adopts a parallel triple push-pull configuration using 12 high-output power transistors per channel developed for Lux, and the complimentary service drive stage adopts a parallel push-pull configuration. This configuration enables stable operation at low distortion rate from high output to low output by using the excellent linearity of hfe-Ic characteristics of all transistors.
In addition, an emitter follower circuit is installed between the pre-drive stage of class A operation and the output stage of class B operation to prevent the impedance fluctuation due to the speaker load from reaching the pre-drive stage and deterioration of the distortion factor characteristics, and to improve the load condition of the pre-drive stage. In addition, constant current drive is performed at important points. This pre-drive stage uses transistors with high ft (high cutoff frequency) and low Cob (collector output capacitance). This enables stable low-distortion drive over the entire band with only a light phase correction.
The power supply consists of two large power transformers and four large electrolytic capacitors of 20,000 μ F. Since the power supply supplied to the output stage of power supply B completely separates the left and right channels, distortion due to interference between the left and right channels is suppressed.
In addition, a full-scale constant voltage circuit is adopted for the power supply to the A-class operation part up to the pre-driver stage to prevent the effect of fluctuation of AC power supply voltage and current of power part.
Four protective circuits are mounted : eddy current detection circuit, DC drift detection circuit, abnormal temperature detection circuit and fuse blown detection circuit.
The DC drift detection circuit protects the speaker when a voltage of ± 3 V or more is generated at the speaker terminal, and the abnormal temperature detection circuit shuts off the power when the heat sink becomes abnormally hot.
The fuse blown detection circuit shuts off the power supply when the power transistor monitoring fuse blows.
The input circuit uses a 1-dB step precision level detent volume similar to a high-grade attenuator for level setting, and an emitter follower stage driven by a constant current to provide electrical insulation between the control amplifier and the main amplifier circuit.
It is equipped with a large VU meter with average level display and an LED peak indicator that displays instantaneous peak values.
It is equipped with an output display sensitivity switching function of 0 db ~ -10dB, and output display can be turned OFF.
