Commentary
A high-power class A monaural power amplifier ranked at the top of the KRS (Kroell Reference Standard) series.
An orthodox pure A class circuit is used for the circuit system.
Since heat generation is a problem in A-class circuits, a cooling fan is generally used in high power class A amplifiers. However, in order to completely eliminate noise generated by the fan, the cooling fan is eliminated in the KRS 200 and cooling is performed by natural convection.
In the KRS 200, a balance circuit is also introduced into the pure A class circuit, and a control amplifier with a balance output can be connected directly to the balance.
A total of 24 power transistors and 8 power MOS-FETs are applied to the output stage to realize high power for ultra-low load of 1 Ω.
The power supply consists of two separate power transformers, one for the positive power transformer and the other for the negative power transformer, each equipped with a 1.8 kva heavyweight transformer, and six power capacitors with a capacity of 40,000 μ F, for a total capacity of 240,000 μ F.
