KAV-400xi
Commentary

An integrated amplifier developed as a successor to the KAV 300 il.

All stages, including volume circuits, are composed of fully balanced circuits of full discrete complimentary service.

The power amplifier uses 8 Pc80W silicon-epitaxial planar LAPTs per channel. This LAPT is a composite device in which 59 small-signal bipolar transistors are generated on a single pellet. It has excellent overall characteristics including dynamic characteristics. It combines high slew rate and high power by utilizing the design philosophy of Kroell current-mode design up to the output stage.

The power supply consists of a 750 VA large-capacity toroidal transformer and a 55,000 μ F capacitor.

The preamp section uses the full-discrete / full-output configuration for all stages, which is also used in Kroell single preamp. All circuits from the line input group to the pre-stage of the complimentary service stage are pure class A. In addition, our unique ultra-low NFB and ultra-wide band design allows for wide-range sources such as SACD.
The preamp section is fed by a dedicated constant voltage regulator, which is completely independent from the output stage, so that interference does not adversely affect the playback sound.

The volume control is equipped with a fully balanced analog volume that switches the R-2R resistance of the multiplexing DAC element in 152 steps using a rotary optical encoder. This method has minimal transients and phase changes, and produces low-colorization sound at any volume position.
The step interval is at least 0.2 dB for delicate adjustment.

It is equipped with a switching function to theater throughput that fixes the preamplifier gain of any input terminal to 0 dB.
This makes it possible to integrate volume control on the surround processor when it is connected to a home theater.

The terminal panel uses a double-contact, highly reliable, completely sealed relay, which is located at the shortest distance to shorten the signal path.

Internal signal interference is reduced by small-size integrated electronic components and latest surface mounting technology of Kroell.

The front panel is used to integrate the function control and other microcomputer components, keeping a large spatial distance from the amplifier. In addition, the transformer winding is completely separated from the dedicated power supply to minimize interference between the control and amplifier circuits.

Wireless remote control is included.

There are 2 color variations of silver and black.
