JBL Model S119
¥ 128,000 (1 unit, released in 1988)
Commentary
Sound field type speaker system that reproduces sound by indirect sound spread without relying on direct radiation of sound.
Four 2.5 cm (1 inch) domed tweeters are installed at each corner of the upper slit in a horizontal direction.
In addition, a 20 cm (8 inch) cone woofer, which is used for the low range, is built into the enclosure and is installed vertically upward.
This ensures a 360-degree service area around the entire circumference.
The crossover is a 3 kHz, -12dB/oct. high-pass filter for the woofer only, and the tweeter is an all-band-pass design similar to the full-range speaker.
The combination of the crossover between the tweeter that naturally attenuates to the low band and the woofer that supports it, and the bass reflex duct tuning around the enclosure also achieves a good balance and texture.
There were three types of enclosures : Model S119WX with walnut finish, Model S119BK with black lacquer finish, and Model S119WH with white lacquer finish.
The speaker jacks are set at the bottom.
