Commentary
An active subwoofer developed to be combined with large speaker systems such as ProjectK2 S5800 and S4800, studio monitor 4348 and 4338.
The unit is equipped with newly developed 38 cm cone type woofer W1500H.
This unit uses a large dual magnet that boasts the largest size among the 38 cm diameter units in the history of JBL. It has a large amplitude and power capability that can withstand a high power drive of over 1,000W.
The diaphragm uses Kevlar/Kapoc composite pulp cone with sufficient rigidity. The edge uses compression mold nitrile butylene rubber edge and the damper uses Nomex-Polycotton hybrid roll damper.
It is equipped with JBL's unique bent-gap cooling system that suppresses the temperature rise of the voice coil at large amplitude and prevents the magnetic force of the magnetic circuit from decreasing. It also supports continuous high-power reproduction.
The power amplifier section has a built-in high power amplifier of class D bridge design.
It is equipped with functions such as continuously variable low-pass filter, phase selector switch, power switch and level control.
In addition, all operation knobs are concentrated at the bottom of the front panel.
Equipped with two input terminals, XLR balanced and RCA unbalanced.
It is equipped with protective circuits such as active limiter, DC offset protector and temperature / overcurrent protector to prevent overdrive.
The cabinet uses a direct irradiation system with a large diameter woofer mounted on the front and housed in a sealed enclosure. The basic structure is made of 25 mm thick MDF material, the front and side surfaces are reinforced with thick MDF material, and the inside is reinforced with brazing.
The front baffle and top of the cabinet have a dark grey textured finish that suppresses reflections, and the left and right sides have a special Italian natural wood finish.
Comes with a large adjustable spike foot that can minimize the contact area with the floor surface.
