Commentary

This floor-type speaker system was developed as the best monitor speaker.

Two 38 cm cone type woofer 2230A are installed in the low range.
This unit uses JBL unique coating agent treated cone paper and edgewise wound ribbon copper voice coil.

30 cm cone type woofer 2202A is mounted in the middle and low range.
The 2202A, pole piece, voice coil, gap, etc. of the a are very precisely machined to enhance its performance, and the unit has a back cavity to prevent back interference with the 2230A.

The middle and high range is equipped with a horn type mid-range which combines driver 2440, horn 2311 and acoustic lens 2308.
The 2440 uses a 0.076 mm thick aluminum-alloy diaphragm and an edgewise wound aluminum ribbon voice coil. Directional characteristics are improved by JBL's unique exponential horn and acoustic lens.

A ring type tweeter 2405 is installed in the high range.
The 2405 uses a ring diaphragm made of 0.056 mm thick aluminum foil molded by air pressure, and reproduces high frequencies up to 20 kHz with characteristics within ± 3 dB.

The network section is a multi-amplifier system divided at a crossover frequency of 250 Hz. In addition to the power amplifier, a divider 5231 or 5232 and a filter board 52 to 5121 are required.
A specially designed L-C type network is used for the middle and high areas.

Equipped with continuously variable level control on the front.

The enclosure is made of 20 mm thick material.
There are 2 variations of the appearance, gray finish and walnut finish.
