Commentary
This bookshelf type speaker system was developed using JBL's professional technology.
The low range is equipped with LE111A which is a 25 cm cone type woofer.
In the LE111A, JBL's original damping material is applied on the back side of the cone paper to provide optimum mass and rigidity, preventing unwanted resonance of the cone paper and obtaining natural response characteristics.
The magnetic circuit is equipped with a 7.5 cm diameter copper ribbon edgewise wound voice coil and 11,000 gauss.
The mid-range is equipped with LE5-9 which is a 13 cm cone type skoker.
The LE5-9 uses a 2.2 cm diameter copper ribbon edgewise wound voice coil and a 14,000 Gauss magnetic circuit. It also uses highly rigid cone paper that does not deform even when a large instantaneous input is applied to improve sound quality and characteristics.
It is also mounted in a sealed back cavity filled with an optimal amount of acoustic material to prevent back interference with the woofer.
A 2.5 cm dome type tweeter, 066, is installed in the high range.
The diaphragm is made of phenol-impregnated linen treated with JBL's proprietary aluminum vapor-deposited film. It has excellent directional characteristics of 150 ° at 20 kHz and 90 ° at 30 kHz. It also has excellent transient characteristics and greatly reduces distortion.
This unit is integrally molded to eliminate surface projections and prevent unwanted reflections.
The network section is designed with state-of-the-art technology. It employs an impedance correction circuit that flattens characteristics near the crossover frequency and a phase correction circuit that sharpens sound image localization and prevents phase disturbance between units.
We are also working to improve sound quality by using parts such as non-polar capacitors and air-core inductors that have good transient response and high withstand voltage.
The middle and high frequencies are equipped with continuously variable level control.
A bass reflex system is used for the enclosure and a 19 mm thick rigid particle board is used for the material.
The shape and dimensions of the duct are determined by calculating the internal volume of 34 liters to obtain the optimum bass response, and by filling the inside with sufficient sound-absorbing material to prevent the generation of unwanted reflected waves and standing waves.
All units are mounted directly on the baffle plate and in-line arrangement improves orientation.
