Commentary
A speaker system developed as a replacement monitor for BBC LS5/9.
A 20 cm diameter cone type woofer with a RADIAL cone is used for the low range.
RADIAL Cone was developed through interaction with material manufacturers and university laboratories in order to optimize the amount of aluminum while taking advantage of the advantages of polypropylene. By changing the blend from the center of the diaphragm to the periphery, various problems that occur on the cone surface in the middle and low band and middle and high band are reduced.
A custom-made product of SEAS "EXCEL", a 2.5 cm soft dome type tweeter with high input resistance design, is used for the high frequency band.
It has a solid structure with a careful design using silver wire.
The crossover network consists of carefully selected parts, including a computer-grade fiberglass board, and is designed with careful measurement and repeated listening.
The speaker terminal uses a gold-plated plug that is compatible with a banana plug.
The enclosure employs a tuning technique unique to Harvey that adjusts the overall tone while using thin wood and damping the sound with tar-based materials and multi-layer wood.
The edge of the front baffle is rounded to reduce acoustic diffraction at the edge.
In addition to protecting the unit, the SaCO uses a method called SuperGrille, which uses a Jersey grill embedded in the groove of the front baffle to enhance the sense of unity with the enclosure and reduce the impact on sound quality. The grill is designed to smooth out sound radiation as well as protect the RUNNET, and is designed to listen normally when worn.
It is finished with gray painted finish.
