Commentary
A speaker system created by adding improvements to the HL-P3ES.
11 cm diameter polypropylene cone type woofer is used for the low range.
It features a 2.5 cm aluminum voice coil mounted on a die-cast chassis and low-loss material at the edges.
A hard dome type tweeter with a 1.9 cm diameter aluminum diaphragm is used for the high frequency band.
By applying magnetic oil, it is subjected to ferrofluid cooling treatment which can maintain stable regeneration ability even at high temperature, and by using rigid resin for the edge, more accurate reproducibility is obtained.
The network is designed using the same technology as LS3/5a. In addition, a unique method is used to refine the smoothness of listening by repeating trial listening with an emphasis on the reproducibility of human voices.
By placing the low-frequency unit slightly behind the tweeter, the phase characteristics near the crossover point and on-axis power response are optimized.
The speaker terminal is a banana plug type and can be connected by bi-wiring.
The enclosure is designed by taking a lot of time to dump wood and tune response in particular, pursuing the ideal of a small speaker through analysis and trial and error. In addition, sound behavior in a closed enclosure is studied based on computer analysis. It is also designed based on SuperTunedStructure, which is the basis of enclosure design even in middle-size systems such as HL Compact 7ES-2.
The baffle uses a round baffle to reduce sound wave diffraction at the edge, and also incorporates SuperGrille's method to optimize sound wave propagation by embedding a jersey grill in the front baffle.
The exterior has a cherry finish.
