The MC cartridge adopts the latest lightweight vibrator and powerful magnetic circuit.

The cantilever is made of a specially hardened aluminum alloy with high corrosion resistance. It is designed to minimize the moment of inertia and flexural vibration during high-speed motion, thereby achieving excellent high-frequency reproduction. In addition, by newly increasing low-frequency compliance, it shows ideal trackability even for high-level cutting disks.

An air-core coil is used for the coil, making it lighter than a normal coil with a magnetic core material and eliminating the magnetic strain caused by the hysteresis curve of the core material. The new special lightweight resin coil bobbin reduces the total weight of the vibrator to about 1/3 and improves tracking capability.

A unique double tapered damper is used for the damper part.
This damper has a slightly constricted shape at the center, as if two cones are symmetrically arranged, enabling an excellent damping effect with a good balance between low and high frequencies.
In addition, the cantilever support system adopts a one point support system with a clear fulcrum position.

The needle tip uses a refined contact needle made of vital-type solid diamond with high-precision processing.
This method combines the advantages of both a line contact needle and an elliptical needle. It is less susceptible to disc warpage and noise caused by dust in the sound groove, and reduces the generation of scratch noise and surface noise.

The magnetic circuit uses samarium-cobalt magnets. Compared with ordinary alnico magnets, this material has the ideal characteristics of holding force and resistance to self-demagnetization. In addition, the yoke can be made smaller, greatly reducing the weight of the cartridge and enabling long-term retention of initial characteristics.

The yoke has been subjected to precision cutting processing to make the whole magnetic circuit close to a circular shape, so that the effective magnetic path length can be shortened and reduced in size. Moreover, the leakage of magnetic flux at corners can be reduced to improve efficiency.

A 0.04 φ mm pure moving wire is used for the coil.

The body has a brown pear finish.
This metal body forms a sandwich structure with the inner body to shut out harmful parasitic vibration and to attenuate natural vibration of the material.

There were two types of PMC-3 : a cartridge single model and a model with a head shell RS-10.
