Commentary
A 2-way speaker system incorporating technology developed for broadcasting stations.
A special amplifier was attached to this speaker system, and it was used as a compact Columbia monitor speaker at broadcasting stations around the country.
A 10 cm cone type woofer with symmetric support system is mounted in the low range.
DENON's original collagen diaphragm is used for the cone. This is a collagen fiber fused to corn paper after a special chemical treatment applied to animal skin. By giving it an appropriate internal resistance, resonance of peaks and dips of the cone is suppressed.
In addition, in order to reduce non-linear distortion at large amplitude, symmetric support system (push-pull support system) is adopted. In this system, edge and damper are integrated into one unit. In order to cancel each other's non-linearity, the same structure as the edge is reversed to form the damper. In addition, the connection part with voice coil is considered rigid compared to the stiffness of edge at low frequency, and one that does not generate resonance at high frequency is adopted.
In this way, the distortion is canceled and the linearity to the amplitude is improved because the non-linearity of a certain shape with respect to the deformation direction is unified by reversing each other.
The edge is made of a special woven fabric impregnated with a polymer material, and the linearity is greatly improved.
A 5 cm cone type tweeter is installed in the high range.
The enclosure is a bass reflex type with ports, and the baffle plate is an iron plate with damping material on the back side.
Air-core coils are also used in the network.
