Commentary
Master clock generator of Scarlatti series.
By synchronizing the D/A converter and transport with a stable master clock with high accuracy, better playback is possible.
A dual oscillator system is used for the circuit, and an aged crystal oscillator (VCXOx2) is selected and used as a match pair. Since each crystal has a different drift tendency, it is necessary to select and match over a long period of time. Each master clock unit is built up by inputting the individual characteristics and characteristics into the internal DSP to improve stability against temperature and secular change.
Eight output terminals are provided. Each of these terminals is equipped with a buffer to block defective components flowing back from the connected equipment.
Crystal oscillation produces frequencies from 22.5792 or 24.5760 or MHz to 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz. The supporting control board is equipped with a newly designed high-speed FPGA, DSP and newly designed power supply. This enables high-speed start-up of less than 2 nanoseconds and greatly reduces jitter.
For higher precision, it is also possible to receive signals from external oscillators such as atomic clocks.
The Scarlatti Clock had an upgrade kit.
Upgrades include a new USB2.0B-type connector and support for 24/192kS/s PCM and DSD packaged in DOp format.
