Commentary
A 20 cm double-cone type full range unit developed based on the technical results obtained with FLAT-5 and FLAT-6.
The diaphragm of the flat series is made of pulp, the main raw material, mixed with chemical fiber, and is specially shaped by the latest molding machine.
In addition, a hard lightweight alloy dome is adopted in the center of the diaphragm to improve the directional characteristics in the ultra-high frequency range.
The long voice coil using copper clad aluminum wire, which was also used in the beta series, is adopted to reduce amplitude distortion and improve intermodulation distortion.
A ceramic magnet with a large coercive force is used for the magnetic circuit to improve efficiency.
In conventional speaker units, when mounted on a baffle plate, cavity resonance occurs due to the thickness of the baffle hole, causing a dip or peak in the mid-range region. To solve this problem, the Flat Series employs a flat-mounting method using a prominent frame.
